Strategies

Organize your trades into strategies,
then find the best version.

Connect all your backtests and live accounts to one Strategy. ChartLooper combines their trades, and Research shows you which version of the strategy performs best. Save it as a new variation, then improve that one too — loop by loop, your strategy gets better.

  1. Step 1

Set up a Strategy once —
    it fills itself

Name it, optionally write down its rules, and connect your backtesting sessions and journal accounts. New trades are added automatically.

Create a new strategy, step 2 Strategy Rules: an editor with Environment, Setup, Entry Trigger, Exit Trigger and Management rule sections, filled in for an ES fair value gap strategy in the 10:00–11:00 New York window.
  2. Step 2

    Compare strategies —
    then dig deeper

Put your strategies side by side, then break the comparison down by tags, sources, instrument or direction. Filters for date, P/L and more narrow the trades first.

Compare tab asking what you would like to compare, with the dimensions Strategies, Sources, Tags, Instrument and Direction, below filters for Strategies, Sources, Tags, Instrument, Direction, Date and Realized P/L.
Sources comparison for the Strategy NY Open Range Breakout: the 150K live account (40 trades, profit factor 1.12, win rate 50%) against the backtest NQ ORB · Mar 2024 – Feb 2026 (120 trades, profit factor 1.30, win rate 42.5%), with performance and drawdown curves.
  3. Step 3

    Improve it —
    again and again

Pick the Strategy you want to improve. ChartLooper ranks the versions that would have performed better. Save the best one with one click and it appears as a new Strategy in your overview. Because that new Strategy can be improved the same way, every loop makes your trading a little better.

Explore your strategy variations: candidate variations ranked by P/L improvement — High momentum breakout (+47.20 R, 93 of 160 trades kept), both concepts combined (+13.19 R), Breakout aligned with a higher trend (+5.15 R) — with the Save strategy variation button and performance and drawdown curves against the original strategy.
Save as strategy variation: Parent strategy NY Open Range Breakout, variation requirement High momentum breakout at Clearly matches or stronger, strategy name NY Open Range Breakout - high momentum variation, and a short description.
  4. Step 4

    See how every
    version differs

The Strategies overview shows all your strategies with their rules. Each variation shows the strategy it came from, and one click on View Requirements shows exactly which requirements it adds to its parent.

Strategies list: NY Open Range Breakout - high momentum variation (93 trades, +68.12 R, derived from NY Open Range Breakout), ICT Silver Bullet (55 trades, +10.69 R) and NY Open Range Breakout (160 trades, +20.92 R).
