Research

Test new trading concepts
without placing a
single trade.

Testing a new idea usually means weeks of new trades before you know anything. With Research, you can skip that — it tests your new Trading Concepts on existing backtests and live trades. You can even assess whether, and how much, the concepts you already trade contribute to your performance.

  1. Step 1

    Choose what to study

Start a Research Study for a Trading Concept — something you check at the entry, such as a pullback into a fair value gap. Entry and Exit Variations are coming soon.

Create a new study, step 1 of 3: What do you want to investigate? Trading Concept, with Entry Variation and Exit Variation marked Coming soon.
  2. Step 2

Rate your trades against the concept — unbiased

Describe the concept and choose the backtests and live trades to study. Each trade opens on the chart up to its Initial Entry, so you rate the setup without knowing how it ended — no hindsight bias.

Outcome-blind review of an NQ trade from 2 June 2026: the question "At entry, how well did this setup match High momentum breakout?" with its concept description and the answers Not present, Barely matches, Clearly matches and Textbook match, beside a 5-minute chart with the marked range that ends at the buy entry.
  3. Step 3

Turn the results into a better strategy

Compare your strategy with and without the concept. Save the better version as a new strategy variation, then research it again — every loop makes it better.

Research comparison of three cohorts: Breakout aligned with a higher trend at Barely matches or stronger (63 trades, +20.05 R, profit factor 1.71), High momentum breakout at Clearly matches or stronger (51 trades, +27.00 R, profit factor 2.53), and both concepts at Textbook match (42 trades, +41.12 R, profit factor 6.77), with performance and drawdown curves.
